Due to COVID-19, PSR is not meeting on a weekly basis but instead monthly activity packets are available for each family to work through together as a family.
Corpus Christi Catholic Church’s Parish School of Religion (PSR) Program is a partnership between the parish and your family. You, as parents, are the primary educators of your child, and the PSR program encourages each child and family to explore and develop their faith and Catholic identity together.
Classes are held for children in Kindergarten through 8thgrade. First Reconciliation & First Communion are typically celebrated in a child’s 2ndgrade year and is held every year. Confirmation is typically celebrated in a child’s 7thor 8thgrade year and is celebrated every other year in odd numbered years.
Weekly sessions for children use a small group discussion model. While textbooks are used, creative and engaging, age appropriate methods are also used to explore the materials, such as craft projects, cooking activities, games, and group projects.
Parent sessions and family sessions are held periodically throughout the year. Parent sessions are a chance for parents to gather to discuss topics related to raising faith-filled families. Family sessions are the opportunity for families to gather together to share in faith-based activities.
Throughout the PSR year, there are various activities that PSR students and their families are invited to and encouraged to participate in.
- Children’s Mass: Each month a different grade provides the liturgical ministries for a 9am Mass.
- Stations of the Cross: One Friday of Lent, the children of the parish and their families lead the Stations of the Cross.
- Advent & Lent Collections: During these seasons, the PSR families participate in a project for a local charity.
PSR sessions are from 10am-11am on Sundays. The PSR year runs from the 2nd Sunday in August through the 1st Sunday of May. Registration for PSR is held during the summer with a registration weekend held the 1st Sunday of August.
