Parents as First Teachers of Faith

We at Corpus Christi in conjunction with the Diocese of Belleville are pleased to partner with you - the parents, grandparents and guardians as well as other members of the household, who are the first teachers of the faith to your children. You are the role models for your children from birth to adulthood. Your children will model their Catholic behavior on how they live their faith at home.

There are many ways to help your child or children grow and live their faith. They include praying with your child at meals and bedtime; attending Mass on a regular basis; encouraging your young child to participate in Children's Liturgy of the Word; enrolling your child in Catholic School or the Parish School of Religion (PSR); helping your child with their religion assignments; helping your child learn their prayers; teaching them about living their faith through service to others; and most of all talking about the Catholic faith with them. Additionally, as they grow you can help them become involved at the parish level as ministers; as members of youth group; as participants in Luke 18, Tech, and Quest; as participants at Camp Ondessonk; and the list goes on. How you live your faith will have a profound affect on them.

We are here to help you in your endeavors. Our catechists willingly volunteer to share their faith and strive to make Christ visible to their students through our religious education programs. We strongly encourage our students to learn to live their faith, so our program includes students participating in Mass as ministers and service projects to help the children learn to give back to those in need. It is our hope that our program allows each student to experience, understand, and grow in their knowledge and love of God.
